Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - Computational Study of Phytochemicals in Ayurvedic Medicinal Formulations

Summary:

Applications are invited from bright, young candidates for a temporary position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the project entitled "Profiling of Phytochemicals in Ayurvedic Medicinal Formulations and Understanding their Aggregation Behavior" sponsored by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, Ministry of Ayush.

Research Area: Computational Study of Phytochemicals in Ayurvedic Medicinal Formulations

Location: Department of Chemistry, IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • B.Tech./M.Sc./M.E/M.Tech with minimum 65% marks in all degrees.
  • Valid GATE score/CSIR-NET(JRF/LS) qualification.
  • Candidates from branches such as Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Sciences, Data Sciences, Ayurvedic Sciences, or related fields are invited to apply.
  • Candidates with an M.Pharm degree and a valid GPAT qualification can also apply.
  • Aptitude towards problem-solving and willingness to learn about chemical systems.
  • Basic understanding of chemical structures, functional groups, and their general reactivity.
  • Additional preferred qualifications: Candidates with a programming background (Fortran, C/C++, Python, Linux) will be preferred. Any experience with molecular modeling will be beneficial.

Emoluments:

Consolidated salary of Rs 31,000 per month, with House Rent Allowance (HRA) if applicable.

Duration of the Project:

The appointment will be for 12 months initially, with the possibility of extension for another 12 months based on the candidate's performance.

Job Description:

The selected candidate will use computational methods, including molecular dynamics simulations and density functional calculations, to study phytochemicals of interest from Ayurvedic sources. The candidate will be involved in the development of force fields for these phytochemicals and the creation of a database of the studied phytochemicals.
