Summary:
Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) is seeking a motivated candidate for the position of Project Associate-I (PA-I) in the Department of Chemical Engineering. The project focuses on the production of propylene and hydrogen through propane dehydrogenation, with an emphasis on catalyst and process development at the bench scale. The position is temporary and purely on a contractual basis for a period of 3 years. Eligibility/Qualification:
- BTech/BE or MTech/ME in Chemical Engineering from a recognized university or equivalent.
- Candidates with a master's degree in chemical engineering and relevant experience as described in the job description will be given preference.
- The maximum age limit for PA-I is 35 years, with relaxation as per Government norms for candidates belonging to scheduled castes/tribes/OBC, women, and physically handicapped candidates.
Job Description:
- Work on the development of appropriate regeneration protocols for catalysts used in propane dehydrogenation to ensure extended catalyst life.
- Handle high-pressure, high-temperature reactors.
- Fabricate and set up bench-scale reactors.
- Synthesize and characterize heterogeneous catalysts.
- Conduct catalyst deactivation studies and determine deactivation mechanisms.
- Create chemical process simulation models using process simulator packages.
- Model reaction kinetics.
- Explore novel downstream applications of the process.
- Demonstrate scientific writing skills and a strong knowledge of engineering principles.
Salary:
- Rs. 31,000/- + HRA for candidates selected through national eligibility tests (CSIR-UGC NET/GATE) or a selection process through national-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and institutions.
- Rs. 25,000/- + HRA for candidates not falling under the above category.
Other Details:
- The engagement will be initially for a period of 12 months, which may be extended or curtailed based on the tenure of the sponsored project and the appointee's satisfactory performance or conduct.
- The engagement is purely on a temporary basis and does not entitle the appointee to any rights/claims associated with an IIT Ropar post or fellowship.
