Title: Project Assistant (Tech.) - Diffractive Optical Element

Summary: Applications are invited from Indian nationals for a project appointment in the area of design and development of a diffractive optical element for high power laser applications. The appointment will be on a contractual basis with a consolidated pay, subject to periodic performance review. The position is renewable yearly or until the duration of the project, whichever is earlier.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Diploma (3 years duration) or Graduate Degree in Mechanical/Instrument Mechanic.
  • 2 years of work experience in machining operations like lathe, milling, grinding, smoothing, and polishing optical components for diploma holders.
  • OR lTl (2 years duration) in Instrument Mechanic.
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience in machining operations like lathe, milling, grinding, smoothing, and polishing optical components for lTl holders.
  • Experience in working in an optical workshop is desirable.

Job Description: The project involves the development of a highly efficient diffractive optical element for spectrally combining multiple semiconductor laser beams for use in high power laser systems. The work includes the preparation of a superfinished substrate, writing subwavelength grating structures, and etching the written structures. The project assistant will be responsible for machining operations such as lathe, milling, grinding, smoothing, and polishing of optical components.
