Title: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

Summary: IIT Patna is inviting applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. The project is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The selected candidate will be working on the development of robust and superhydrophobic plasma-sprayed graphene reinforced TiAl intermetallic membranes with improved desalination in membrane distillation.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  1. For candidates with M.Tech./ME/MS as the qualifying degree:
  • First-class (minimum 65% marks or 7.0 CPI) in M.Tech./ME/MS with GATE/NET qualifications
  • First-class (minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CPI) in B.Tech./BE, 12th and 10th class.
  1. For candidates with B.Tech./BE as the qualifying degree:
  • 75% marks or 8.0 CPI in B.Tech./BE from institutes other than IITs/IISc and 7.0 CPI in B.Tech. from IITs and IISc with valid GATE score
  • First-class (minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CPI) in 12th and 10th class.
  1. The age should not exceed 28 years for a candidate with BE/B.Tech/M.Sc. degree as the highest qualification and 32 years for a candidate with ME/M.Tech/MS degree as the highest qualification.
  2. Working/research experience in the field of Ceramic/metal composites, Nanocomposites, Environmental engineering, Composite fabrication techniques, Microstructure and Phase analysis, Mechanical and Tribological characterization will be given preference.

Job Description: The selected candidate will be working on the development of robust and superhydrophobic plasma-sprayed graphene reinforced TiAl intermetallic membranes with improved desalination in membrane distillation. The candidate will be responsible for conducting experiments, analyzing data, and preparing reports on the research progress. The candidate will also be expected to assist in other project-related activities.

Consolidated Fellowship: Rs. 31,000/+ (@8% HRA) Rs. 2,480/=33,480 Rs. for the first two years followed by Rs. 35,000/+ (@8% HRA) Rs. 2,800/=37,800 Rs (subject to satisfactory performance)
